The residential building, designed for a corner plot, has 18 apartments and 2 retail premises. The concept was based on the fact that we did not want an underground garage due to high ground water levels, so we pulled the building back half way at ground level and created covered surface parking.

On the ground floor there are two retail spaces that serve the residents of the area. This level is set back slightly to give the building a more airy feeling. The apartments on the upper floors are accessed from an open atrium with a suspended corridor in the middle of the building, equipped with an elevator. The openness of the atrium provides a pleasant arrival, yet protects from the surrounding weather. On the first and second floors, 8-8 apartments of 50 to 80 m2 have been designed with mirrored layouts, giving a playful structure to the facade. On the top floor there are 2 penthouses with associated terraces and roof gardens, created by pulling back the facade. To enclose the building, we have designed a flat roof with extensive green roof, which also provides space for solar panels.
The use of materials is modern, with exposed concrete on the ground floor, plaster on the middle two floors, ocher painted walls on the loggias of the balconies to highlight them, and quality stone cladding on the penthouses. The combination of these three materials creates a great harmony on the house and makes it truly contemporary. The shading of the apartments has been achieved with wooden sliding shutters, which also give the facade a playful and various feel.
